From January 19 - 22, 2006, the Armenian Rugs Society co-sponsored and participated in an exhibit entitled "Armenian Odyssey: The Heritage of Area Rug Excellence Rediscovered" which took place exclusively at the AmericasMart in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of AmericasMart annual carpet and rug merchandising showcase.
The exhibit and accompanying events were conducted in conjunction with Megerian Carpets, showcasing Armenian rugs and textiles and featured presentations by noted authors Peter Balakian and Lucy DerManuelian, among others, as well as the mayor of the City of Atlanta.
