ARMENIAN RUGS SOCIETY EXHIBITS AND PRESENTATIONS
Among the Armenian Rugs Society's many activities and projects, its exhibits hold a particularly special and prominent place within the Society's mission and history.
The Society has been sponsoring and participating in exhibits, both nationally and internationally, since its establishment in Washington D.C., in 1980.
Exhibits aim to showcase the beauty, craftsmanship, and historical significance of Armenian rugs, carpets, and woven culture, in general, including textile production, as well as disseminate knowledge of the rich Armenian rug, carpet, and woven arts tradition.
Exhibits, also, allow both the public and collectors, as well as scholars and experts well versed in the technical and historic aspects of the rugs, to interact with the often rare and stunning pieces on display and with all those individuals sharing a deep interest in the Armenian woven arts.
Armenian Rugs Society exhibits, quite often, are accompanied by presentations and lectures from experts and scholars in the field, transforming the exhibits into symposia and colloquia.
The Exhibits section of the site currently showcases four such exhibits which go beyond basic displays of rugs and carpets, but have included lectures, presentations, panel discussions and other events. More exhibit slide shows, as well as documents and video presentations of exhibit activities will be added to the section in the near future.
The exhibits are noted here by the locales or cities in which they occurred, however you will see the full exhibit descriptions and slideshows once you visit the commensurate sub-section.
