Since its founding in 1980, the Armenian Rugs Society has sponsored countless exhibits, workshops, symposia, and lectures both in public and private venues, universities and colleges, art galleries and museums, for the general public and specialized collectors. The Society is proud to have participated in many international exhibits and conferences that have taken place here in the US and overseas. The Society has been able to facilitate workshops and other programs in public and private schools and have worked with libraries and institutes on the presentation of artifacts and historical background for a slew of projects. The Armenian Rugs Society continues to organize, sponsor, and participate in symposia and exhibits concerning rugs, textiles, and the woven arts, particularly bringing its resources to bear in the areas of the Armenian woven arts tradition. The Society is very proud of its Adopt-a-Loom initiative which seeks to empower people, young and old, in the villages and towns of Armenia, through providing the wherewithal to learn the time-honored craft of the Armenian weaving arts. Please see our Adopt-A-Loom section for all the details. The Armenian Rugs Society Projects section showcases Symposia and Exhibits, as well as the Adopt-A-Loom initiative in its galleries. Currently, you will be able to find slide shows and abstracts from our Atlanta, Laguna Beach, and Vienna Exhibits, as well as our Textiles and Kum Kapi Symposia. The Society would also like to note that most of its exhibits are accompanied by lectures and/or symposia, and in some cases companion publications. The Society has included excerpts from these works whenever and wherever possible within the site. Please use the Projects icons below or the Navigation Bar above to visit the pages and subpages in our Projects section. The Society will be supplementing our current selections with many more in the near future. |
